CPL 2.0 Twitter

I have gone to the Twitter site and searched for various topics. I am singularly unimpressed with what I found.
This "fast-growing online phenomenon" appears to consist of a mind-numbing quantity of vacuous postings by puerile individuals who have nothing intelligent to say.
I find it difficult to take seriously a site called "Twitter" which posts "tweets". I will not be visiting Twitter again.

CPL 2.0 Library Thing

I was able to find several of my favourite books on Library Thing.
I already receive email notification when many of my favourite authors release a new book and I use Amazon frequently to read reviews of books.
Library Thing was very user friendly and easy to navigate but I don't need it. I haven't the time or inclination to tag my favourites and I can usually find new books through other means. This site is just one in a long list of sources for information on books that I may or may not use from time to time.

CPL 2.0 Online Productivity Tools

I created an online calendar through my Google account.
I don't expect to ever use it as my paper daytimer doesn't require me to log in, have an available computer or mobile phone and is always at hand.
If I had to use one of these tools on a regular basis, it would probably be one of the Google Docs applications as they are portable and can be accessed from anywhere.

CPL 2.0 Flickr & You Tube

It is necessary to sign up for an account in order to access Flickr; this is not as user friendly a procedure as simply logging in to You Tube.
As I have neither a cell phone nor a camera, I have little use for a site to assist in the editing of photographs. I may have occasion to view photos of certain subject material but I doubt that Flickr would be the place I would choose to do this.
You Tube, on the other hand, is easily accessed and provides a great variety of subject material on video; Susan Boyle's performance on Britain's Got Talent is wonderful and there are videos on cooking, animation, automobiles, fitness workouts and on virtually any subject that comes to mind.
I prefer You Tube to Flickr and find it vastly superior in entertainment value and usefulness. Individuals who enjoy photography would, perhaps, like Flickr better but it seems to me that the choice between the two products would be heavily influenced by personal interests.

CPL 2.0 RSS

I signed up for a Bloglines account and added a feed to ESPN.
I find that RSS is very cumbersome to use. If there is a sports story I am interested in following, this is the last place I would choose to access it from.

CPL 2.0 Google Universe

I used Google Maps to determine the route from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, Arizona, to my daughter's home near Glendale. The directions were clear, easy to follow, and included the distance and approximate driving time between the two points. I liked everything about this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Google Finance provides a quick overview of stock market activity worldwide, a look at trends and market news from Reuters, BBC News and other reputable sources as well as the present currency exchange rate between the Canadian dollar and other major international currencies.
Quotes are available for various stocks and there is an option to keep track of one's own investment portfolio. This is an excellent product for investors or even for people who are travelling and want a quick method with which to compare the value of Canadian currency to that of certain other nations. I would heartily recommend this product to anyone.

CPL 2.0 Facebook

For me, Facebook is a complete waste of time.
I have no interest in making my personal information available to anyone, nor do I wish to read such information about others.
I set up a Facebook account in order to complete this assignment but the information I provided was fictitious and I intend to cancel the account at the end of the CPL 2.0 programme.
